Nintendo All-Access Presentation @E3 2012 Summary

Nintendo All-Access Presentation @E3 2012 (the video below) lasted more than an hour. For those who are poor in time, here is a summary article.

1. Nintendo wants the Wii U GamePad screen to be the first screen people grab in the living room:

because they don't want Wii U to dependent upon the TV.

In addition, when someone has occupied the TV, gamers can still play their games.

2. Each console will support two GamePads.

Although they didn't explicitly state, Doughnut I/O claims it is time for scribble, Burmese Chess and mahjong.

3. There will be more or less 23 launch-titles:

including Super Mario Brothers 2, Pikmin 3, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Wii Fit U and Ubisoft's games like Zombie U.

4. Miiverse is a social network that Nintendo built-in the Wii U,

using which you can share screenshots, messages and hand-drawn notes.

Miiverse can also be accessed in-game (if the game you are playing supports it). Super Mario Brothers 2 supports it.

4. The screen plays an important role in the game-play in a mechanics called assymetric game-play such as in

(a) Super Mario Brothers 2 where the GamePad holder create blocks for other players to step upon, (b) Aliens: Colonial Marines, where you use it as motion sensor, (c) Zombie U, where it is password typing screen and sniper scope and (d) Batman Arkam City, where you control your gadgets using the GamePad.

5. Some teaser for today's 3DS event.
